There's no place like home...

Quiet tranquility greets me every morning at the pond near our home.
Despite a remarkable spring and summer of travel and adventure since my last post in mid-May, it's been pretty darn exciting here on the home front.

(Keep in mind that this is all relative to those who parachute out of airplanes and go deep sea scuba diving and stuff like that.)

In my life, watching the Cache la Poudre River rise to flood levels (and beyond) because of unprecedented continual days of rain throughout May and June, is downright breathtaking.

But, it's this history-making rainfall that's creating some of the most intense colors in landscape and flowers in my own backyard as well as in the high country!

I should start with my beloved Cache la Poudre River in late May.

Rainwater fills the Cache la Poudre River over its banks--and stays this way for WEEKS.

Iris abound in the moist conditions...

...as do the Colorado Columbine.

Great Blue Heron fish with ease in all the newly flooded areas.

Snow continues to accumulate on the Rocky Mountains...

...as rains sweep across Colorado.

Water rises along the Poudre River Trail.

Birds sing...
...roses bloom...
...and dandelions fly.
Last weekend we joined my folks at their cabin on the Wyoming-Colorado border--just in time for the incredible blooms of wildflowers in the high country!!

Clear blue skies and intense green landscape promise a beautiful day as we drive north on Hwy. 287 to Wyoming.

Wild roses around the cabin add sweet perfume.

Abundant snow and rain reap lush green colors...

...along a high country creek.
Pockets of wild iris thrive in the damp soil.

Wild iris dance in the wind.

The road less traveled always calls my name.

Among the countless wildflowers blooming now, the Pasque flower
remains my alpine favorite.

Delphinium...

This morning as I sat at my desk to write, I was enchanted by all the flowers in full bloom in my own backyard.  So, to wrap up my tribute to June, let me share a few images from my garden today.

...Penstemon...

...daisies..

...roses...

....and...

...Daylily and friend...

...and my most favorite, Lavender.
